Libertarian National Committee

The Libertarian National Committee (LNC) is the governing body of the Libertarian Party at the national level when a national convention is not in session.

Membership

The LNC has 18 members:

*  four officers elected by the convention

  • Chair
  • Vice-Chair
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer

*  five members elected at-large by the convention

*  nine representatives selected by geographic regions

For current holders of these positions, see the LNC directory.

Functions

The LNC is effectively the "board of directors" of the Libertarian Party. Its functions include: establishing an organizational structure to carry out the work of the party, approving the national LP budget, giving advice and consent on appointments made by the Chair, and adopting a Program and resolutions on current issues (within the framework set forth by the convention in the Platform).

For details, see the national LP Bylaws.

Meetings

The LNC normally meets three or four times per year. For information about past meetings, see LNC meeting history. For information on upcoming meetings, contact the LP national office or check the calendar of upcoming events.
